What makes Cincinnati a strength-based city?
Our CoreChange working group has decided to get started with its work by creating this blog and asking this one question. Let us know your answer in the comments.
I think one of Cincinnati's strengths is its history as a transition, connection or border point. It's where North and South meet, where rivers connect to trains. This keeps things interesting.
For me, Cincinnati is a great city because it is filled with so many wonderful places and people. Have ice cream at the Goodie Bar, Putz's UDF to say nothing of Graters and Agilimisi's, watch the opera, tour the Taft, go to Riverbend, Kings Island, Coney Island, the riverfront and Sawyer Point to name just a few. My hope is that we can make all of Cincinnati accessible to all the great people who live here. We have a wonderful city of sooo many strengths, name a few of your favorites Joan
There are individuals who use their bravery and perseverance strengths every day as the push against the obstacles to deliver community programs. There are athletes who display exemplary zest and self-regulation strength as they participate in their sport and inspire thousands of fans. There are business-persons who operate out of their core strengths of honesty/integrity and fairness, even when it's not to their financial advantage. There are teachers and principals in public and private schools who are wielding creativity and humor to help students engage and learn. There are residents in every neighborhood who put forth curiosity, teamwork, and hope as they connect with one another, build positive relationships, and look to create a deeper sense of betterment in their community. These strengths are the ingredients of community goodness and of city goodness. They can be found in every human being in this region.
